I support lower taxes. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which was opposed by Dick Durbin, has had a positive effect on our economy. Gross Domestic Product is above 3% and the unemployment rate is less than 4%. The unemployment rate among African Americans and Hispanics is the lowest ever recorded. The United States leads the world in wages and salary growth. Illinois state revenue increased by 1.5 billion dollars in 2018 as a direct result of the tax cuts. The Republican tax bill has brought in hundreds of billions in profits made by companies overseas.  No one likes tariffs, but I support the President’s tariffs to bring unfair trading partners to the table. Our nation’s future prosperity also depends on sound educational reform, and sensible energy policies.
